AmeriMex Communications Corp. was founded in 1998 in Atlanta, Georgia. AmeriMex started out as a distributor of long distance calling cards. The company then became what is known as a Competitive Local Exchange Carrier (CLEC) and started to provide residential telephone service. The residential telephone service quickly became the company’s primary product and AmeriMex steadily expanded over the course of several years, state by state. By 2004, the company had over 20,000 residential telephone customers in 10 states, mostly in the Southeastern US. The company obtained and served its customers primarily through a distribution network of approximately 800 Hispanic merchants.
In 2006, the company purchased a telephone switch and became what is known as a full facilities based provider of telecom services. Having the switch allowed AmeriMex to offer a more diversified portfolio of products and add more value to the end user than just providing basic residential telephone service. In late 2007 AmeriMex Communications sold its residential customer base and now concentrates on leveraging its technology to bring more advanced telecom services to the market.
